One more piece by Kutavicius can be found on the CD "Lithuanian New Music
Year 1997" (http://www.mic.lt/recordings_cd004.htm). The piece is called
"Far Away Till Midnight" and features a combo of a strings quintet and a
saxophone quintet. The saxophones are used to create an Indian (Hindi)
flavor. Quite an interesting piece, especially the middle part (the
"conversation" of the saxophones).
There are better pieces on the CD though (by the most influential
Lithuanian composers J. Juzeliunas and O. Balakauskas). I can't be
unbiased about Juzeliunas' monumental 15-minute (!) oboe solo because
of its performer, but it's a great work (should be listed among the best
compositions for woodwinds in the 20th century).
Juozas Rimas Jr (not the one playing)
