I have been involved in extensive formic acid trials at a university over
the
past 3 years, involving hundreds of hives.
Can you comment on results and observations?
We used a fiber board pad soaked with formic, placed above the frames inside
a one inch deep rim. The cover and rim is duct taped in place to keep the
fumes from escaping.
Sounds like the Medhat N. method? Am I correct in guessing so ?
Taping the top is OK but what did you do to prevent the fumes (heavier than
air ) from flowing out the front entrance? In my humble opinion fumes
dropping and flowing out the front entrance is one reason many times
treatments fail.

But it is up to the bee industry to get formic on the market. I don't know
what the status of that effort is these days.
As soon as bee equipment suppliers can figure a way to make money on sale to
beekeepers movement should happen fast.
