Amy, Stephen and Barb,

Sorry if I am too late, but here is a proposed paper topic:

"Mexican Majolica Stylistic Tradition Change Between 1790 and 1830: Harbinger
of Culture Change on the California Frontier"

Rex Gerald and John Goggin proposed stylistic changes of Puebla Tradition
types of Mexican Majolica that sparked a revival of Italian style polychrome
designs in the late 18th century. Analysis of Mexican Majolica specimens
found at sites dating between 1790 and 1830 indicate substantial decline in
Puebla Tradition and replacement by a revival of Italian-Talavera and new
Aranama Tradition polychrome types. This flourescence is proposed as a
material culture harbinger of the rise of the Mexican Republic on the
California frontier.
