Anna,
Yeah, while it is great to have WAC meet "nearby," there is no way
that any conference in Washington, DC, can have the marvelous
ambiance of Cape Town or the UCT campus. It'll be just another big
conference hotel, won't it, with mobs of people doing the big
conference thing? WAC4 was definitely the best conference I've ever
attended, in every way, and there is no way the organizers can manage
to recreate the elements that made the Cape Town WAC such a success
in the DC context. I hope they don't have it slated to run on the
same days as the SHA annual meetings, but even if does not coincide
like it did for the Cape Town meeting, many people will have to make
a choice as to which conference they can attend, I suspect.
