I am sure I speak for all of us who just returned from the 35th SHA
Annual Conference in Mobile, Alabama. Congratulations to Gregory
Waselkov and his annual conference committee on one of the best SHA
annual meetings we have ever had. The meetings were well attended
(number ?) and extraordinary in how well they were organized. Some of
the high points, such as the Plenary Session and the Stan South Session
("thundering fish!), were very enjoyable but also all the regular
sessions I attended were equally good.

It was beautiful in Mobile - a delightful and historic town - with
rain on only one day. The tours were perfect and we especially
thank Greg for leading the one to Old Mobile. [The French colonists
were just as stupid as the English colonists is picking their
settlement locations in North America. Always a swamp.]

The Awards Ceremony Banquet was a success as were the other formal
elements such as the Business Meeting. The student reception was,
as usual, well attended. There were 18 Past Presidents at the Past
Presidents Luncheon just outside the hotel - a recent record.

The Adam's Mark Hotel was really good - especially if you were on the
25th floor looking out over the Mobile River and the Bay with sun
rises every day - and had a great location in historic Mobile.

SHA 2002 was GREAT. Thank you Greg, Bonnie, Amy, Bonnie, John, Philip,
Sarah, George and Judith et al.
