Fellow Histarchers:
As part of an effort to build a case to get permission to perform soil
borings on city-owned land, I am hoping Histarchers can provide me with
examples (with references) of cases where important archaeological sites have
been preserved under landfill with their ground surfaces intact and where the
sites presence was confirmed through the use of borings, corings, or auger
testing. It would be ideal it the site was important enough that even the
most jaded bureaucrat might sit up and take notice.
Thanks for any help you can give.
