Well if you get a nice warm week, I would take off the extra box...but make
sure the bees have enough honey to last the winter...

If you do NOT have mild weather than do NOT remove the box...the reason is
that the bees will have a really hard time resealing the box even if you do
it on a warm day...When did you combine the hives?
