I am currently compiling a list of 18th century American stoneware potters.
I have examined the standard sources (Ketchum 1987 & 1991, Branin 1988,
Osgood 1971 and Barka et al. 1984) as well as some newer sources
(Rauschenerg 1978 &1991, Springsted 1977, Magid 1995, Broderick and Bouck
1995 and Lukacs 2001). What I am now looking for are American stoneware
potters pre-1800, who have been recorded in the grey literature or obscure
secondary sources. Once completed this list will be published and should
prove to be an invaluable source to researchers.
