Sorry for cross-posting - the following is an abstract-in-progress: we're
looking for papers dealing with fieldwork methodologies, computer
documentation, recording systems, etc., and will rewrite the abstract if
need be... We want the new, the old and exotic (can anyone tell me about

World methodology

Recent studies by historians and sociologists of archaeology have shown how
profoundly different theoretical viewpoints in various national traditions
can be. Less well known, however, is the methodological diversity this
represents. This session focuses on the methodology of field archaeology as
practiced around the world, presently and in the past. It will examine the
methods used, their relation to documentation, technology, and theoretical
foundations.
