This is a little dated and depends if you are using AutoCAD. In 1994
Schreiber Instruments (they make many products one I used QUICKSURF which
runs a digital terrain modeler inside AutoCAD, mostly in memory before
committing to the model, with Kreiging and other options) announced their
$495 "low cost" product "Spatial Explorer" which created 3D cross-sections,
2D cross-sections, 3D Fence diagrams, 3D block diagrams and 3D wellbore,
allowing "visualization and plotting of the complex sub-surface geometry
encountered in environmental engineering, oil and mineral explorations and
exploitation and civil engineering." - QUICKLINE Vol. 1, Number 2, First
Quarter 1994.
It works seamlessly within AutoCAD Release 12, the QuickSurf surface modeler
is not required to run Explorer, but Explorer is "QuickSurf aware" if
QuickSurf is loaded.
The graphics in the newsletter were amazing profiles everywhere some
generated from boreholes or other data extrapolated through the sub-surface
modeled.
