A CD looking for Subscribers
Hilding Hallnas in memoriam
The 24th of May this year its 100 years since the birth of the Swedish
composer Hilding Hallnas (1903 - 1984). A composer whose music is rarely
heard and even more scarce on CD, his tonal language is similar to that
of his more known contemporaries Hilding Rosenberg and Gosta Nystroem,
You will find a hint of Bartok, a great Post Romantic Heart that is not
afraid to pick up and smell even the newest of musical trends.
To help celebrate the music of this forgotten composer, I now propose
a subscription of a not yet available CD. The Hallnas project will if
successful become a CD of Hallnas Piano music. Featuring the 4 Piano
Sonatas, a Triptyk, the Short suite for Piano, a Pas de deux, Largo from
Pastels and 4 movements from =B3A winters tale=B2 (preludes for children).
These recordings will be licensed from the Swedish Broadcasting Company,
all is played by the Danish pianist Jorgen Amso. the recordings have
taken place during a number of occasions starting in 1968 and to as late
as December 2002. All have good or even very fine sound quality and the
duration of the CD will be not less than 70 minutes.
To land this project we will need 300 subscribers willing to part with
the equivalent of 200 Swedish crowns (Apr. $25 US / $15 UK / 22 Euro
etc.). Slightly higher than what I have to pay in my local shop for a
full price CD. This subscription entitles You to a CD, Your name in print
and the acknowledgement of having supported a neglected composer. If the
project comes reality it will be a cooperation with a local record label
(Intim Musik).
As a first step, I would like those interested in subscribing to send
me a letter of intent (by e-mail or post) and when I have accumulated
not less then 300 interested (Which will be at the end of April) I will
ask these to send me (ie. the record label, which will take care of all
the administration) the subscription fee. This to avoid people sending
money to a project that do not get enough subscribers.
If You have any questions, please use the address or e-mail below, and
those that have a chance to pass this appeal to anyone possibly interested,
please do so!
This message has been crossposted to several groups and mailing lists,
my sincere appologies to those who recieved more than they bargained
for!
