Three works which are guaranteed to cure all optimism everywhere:

* Ninth Symphony by Malcolm Arnold - Lento (fourth movement).  The last
- & most despairing - of Arnold's Waste Land pastorales.

* First Symphony by ZHU Jian'er -!?  (third movement).  A disjointed
nightmare in sound, from ZHU's Cultural Revolution symphony.

* Canto General by Mikis Theodorakis - America Insurrecta (finale).
A lament for an American Revolution that never took place.
