A propos nothing but Daniel Beland's statement...

I recently got a copy of Mikis Theodorakis' "Requiem". I have long loved
Greek music as 'easy listening' but must admit to knowing nothing about the
classical music side of the nation's culture. The Theodorakis attracted me
as a curiosity, but I am so glad I bought it! Nothing at all like what I
expected from the composer of "Zorba the Greek" -- in fact, had I listened
to it 'blind' I would have pegged it as Russian or maybe
Bulgarian/Slavonic. This is a FABULOUS mass and deserves much wider
recognition.
