I found in the book "The World of Twentieth Century Music", David Ewen
(Prencite Hall Inc; Englewood Cliffs, 1969), pages 668-675(article about
Satie), the following translations:
>Croquis et agaceries d'un gros bonhomme en bois
Sketch and provocations of a big wooden simpleton
>Avant-dernieres pensees
Next to last thoughts
>Veritables preludes flasques
Real flabby preludes
>Trois Morceaux en forme de poire
Three Pieces in the shape of a pear
David Ewen explains: "Gimnopedia" was a religious festival in ancient
Sparta in which naked youth worshiped their gods in song and dance.
Also he explains about "Gnossiennes": Satie was inspired by a reading
of Flaubert`s "Salammbo" to compose these pieces.
