A still, small voice within makes me suspect that Mats is being a touch
ironic, but there's wisdom buried in his wit. Janacek for one believed
100% that musical response begins in exactly this way, even before the
melodies of human and animal speech come into consciousness.
Observably, is not sensual perception of nature precisely the way we all
start to differentiate rhythm, timbre, melody? Carl Orff's system is based
on similarly organic principles, even down to the tin cans. Bravo, Mats,
