Press Release September 23, 2001

Brave New Works, a new music group dedicated to presenting, promoting
and performing contemporary classical music for a broad audience without
compromising artistic integrity, presents a mini festival featuring the
music of American Composer Leslie Bassett. The festival will be two
concerts on October 6 & 7 at 8 pm in the Britton Recital hall on the campus
of University of Michigan in Ann Arbor. The composer will be on hand to
talk about his music before each concert which will begin on 8 pm each day.

All concerts will be free and open to the public. We find solace in coming
together to support and defend the values that we believe are essential to
our everyday lives. Through music, the musicians of Brave New Works wish
to express that which makes us human. We fundamentally believe that music
is what gives us our highest form of expression.

We must take a stand. Together, we can insist that there will be peace,
beauty, and art in our world.

We offer you, our community, this gift of music as testimony to those
values that we all honor. And we pledge to redouble our effort to keep
beauty and harmony and music in our beloved community.

The performers will include the Ambassador Duo, Matthew Ardizzone, Winston
Choi, Jennifer Goltz, Scott Conklin, Robert Auler, and many other Brave New
