IMHO, The Alpine Symphony is one of the great works of the twentieth
century,andI am pleased that Steve, while he probably would not go that
far, avoids the kneek jerk dismissal of it which is all too common.  I
do like the Karajan performance, but I also heard part of a Strauss
performanc3 that I would like to hear in its entirety.
