Speaking of light - at Lowes (the walmart of hardware) the other day I saw
something that looked like it would be very useful in this situation. They were
sets of five 15w halogen lights that were about 10cm in diameter, and only a
few cm thick. They fit on a single strand of electric line, and were clipped
together in series (so you could use all or a few) for a total length of a
couple of meters, but adjustable. They are meant to be stuck under counters etc .
Thus you could stick them to a 1x4 board with velcro and have pretty decent
light that didn't get in the way...
