Hello,

I have two kinds of straight pins from a 19th century family cemetery in
Maryland. Some have flat heads which I believe are machine-made. The pins
I am unsure of have round heads – could these be machine-made, too, or are
they wound straight pins? I would appreciate any references with images
and a description of how to identify the different manufacture methods. I
have references describing the manufacture methods but cannot quite
connect the methods to the pins. They are corroded, which may be the
problem. All are made of cuprous metal.

Thanks in advance for your help.

Kate Gallagher
