Glass Balls- How about a ball mill for grinding clay in the brick
manufacturing process?
On another matter, one of my co-workers met with a local artifact collector,
and among the collection of obviously prehistoric ground stone artifacts
were about 100 heart shaped rocks. Now don't laugh too hard. the great
majority of these were manufactured of local sandstone however some were
flaked from 4" limestone gravel, and some were manufactured of chert. they
varied in size from 2-3" to 1'. All were found within a short stretch of
one of our many creeks. So, has anyone else found something similar? How
about the history of the heart motif? Does the heart motif have
significance to a cultural or ethnic group? If curiosity gets the best of
you, contact me off list for a photograph of a representative sample of
these rocks.
Thanks,
Will
