Hi Joan,

During the mid 80s I scoured the secondhand and charity shops in and
around Sydney trying to build up a reference collection of cutlery. There
was often a box full of cutlery from deceased estates - a vast percentage
originated from Sheffield - (1890s onward). Knives, curiously, were not as
common as spoons and forks. On occasion I was lucky enough to get some
solid silver items (not from Sheffield) for 10 or 20 cents among the 'junk'.

Best Wishes, Robert
