Computer reconstruction of archaeological sites is growing in
importance as a research, management and public interpretation
tool. The potential value of computer reconstructions is
demonstrated by the video, Computer Reconstruction: Temple Site
at Phimai, now available for viewing on The Archaeology Channel,
our public-education streaming-media website
(www.archaeologychannel.org).

Dr. Richard Levy of the University of Calgary built a computer
model of the ancient temple at Phimai, Thailand, initially as an
educational resource for Thai students. As vividly demonstrated
in this video through a virtual tour of this dazzling World
Heritage Site, the computer modeling of the Phimai temple serves
to show the promise of the technique for archaeologists
everywhere. Through computer reconstruction, a model of an
archaeological site may be created from a variety of data and
studied, examined and compared as if it were the real thing.

These and other programs are available on TAC for your use and
enjoyment. If you feel that this project is a worthy endeavor,
please participate in the Membership and Underwriting programs
described on our website at www.archaeologychannel.org. Your
help will allow us to continue and enhance this nonprofit
public-education service. We also welcome new content partners
as we reach out to the world community.

Please forward this message to others who may be interested.
