Robert Clements reports from the Radio Prague news service:
>* The Czech-born American Zdenek Macal will become the new chief
>conductor of the Czech Philharmonic Orchestra.
When he was Music Director of the Milwaukee Symphony he conducted a great
deal of Dvorak. On the podium there he never seemed to relax. I wonder
how a return to his native land in such a role will affect him and his
conducting.
