Over the past few months I've been eyeing the display of discs at my local
record shop issued as part of the Rubinstein Edition. I'm interested in
exploring some of these recordings but, given the enormous amount of music,
I'm not sure what to try first. I did, actually, already purchase two of
the discs in the series:
Vol.54 - Schubert; Piano Sonata D.960, Impromptus, Fantasie
Vol.57 - Beethoven Piano Sonatas
and I enjoy both of them, especially the Schubert disc. I've no idea,
though, if some of the other discs in the Edition might be gems. Can
anyone offer a recommendation? I know that Rubinstein is famous for his
interpretations of Chopin, and I do own the famous old RCA recording of the
Nocturnes. I'm not sure if the performance of the Nocturnes in the Edition
is the same recording or not.
Any comments or suggestions you might have would be much appreciated.
