Yes, but generally, once they start laying, they do not fly out. They
stay in the hive.
In my own experience, when I have taken them out and shaken them on the
ground, away from the hive, they usually stay clustered where they
fall. I have observed that their numbers dwindle, thus I tend to
believe that some do return to the bee yard. What fate they encounter
is unceretain, anyone's guess.
