A note of caution on Made in Japan. We have found ceramics with "Made in
Japan" in tightly dated fire deposits from 1915. Also "Made in Japan" has
been found on a few pieces in a tightly dated 1907 well deposit. While Kovel
and Kovel, Irene Stitt and other books give a 1921 date, this can't be taken
as an absolute.
