HISTARCH
When Karl Gurcke was working at the Laboratory of Anthropology, University
of Idaho, he assembled a large and impressive collection of bricks,
including those illustrated in his classic work, Bricks and Brickmaking: A
Handbook for Historical Archaeology (1987, University of Idaho Press,
Moscow). To the best of my knowledge the collection is still available to
serious researchers. While emphasizing the Pacific Northwest it also
includes English and Scots ballast (HBC and later), California, and China
among other specialty areas.
