Joseph Previte asks:

>Are BOTH of the Serkin recordings released on disc?? Anyone know?

Obviously they were both released on vinyl Columbia LPs, in 1952 (mono) and
1968 (stereo). The later one has been on several Sony CDs. I very much
doubt that the earlier mono has made it to CD - it was only marginally
different form the later performance.

Harris Goldsmith in his High Fidelity review of the 1968 release
characterized both of the Szell performances as differing greatly (more
chamber-music like & subtle) from the 1947 Pittsburgh/Reiner (tartness) and
the 1961 Philadelphia/Ormandy (grim austerity).
