An excellent "single source" for the Schubert Masses is the
Sawallisch/Bavarian Radio recordings released in various configurations by
EMI. In general, superb interpretations captured in uniformly excellent
recordings.

Of the six masses, the mature Mass in A-flat is a particular favorite of
mine. Very symphonic in conception, and in the Vienesse tradition, an
obvious "bridge" work between the late Haydn masses and those of Bruckner.
