NPR is, indeed, "no such thing" simply because the description of "such
thing" is a gross exaggeration, mixed with misrepresentation.  Setting up
straw men so as to knowck them down is an ancient trick still used, sadly,
by both sides, right or wrong.

NPR is not a bastion of anything but a very valuable source of good music,
good and thoughtful discussions about matters well beyond music, and one
of few sources left in this country of reasonably sound international news.
In many parts of the Country, for example where I live, Alabama, it is the
only radio source of good music.  By the way, in case there is anyone
amongst those reading this who scoff at Alabama, NPR began here.
