Join us on Saturday, September 1, to celebrate Bruckner's 177th birthday
(three days ahead of schedule) in Carlsbad, California.
As in the previous two years, we'll play the symphonies in an informal
setting, with intermissions between works and plenty of food/drinks to keep
us going. This year's event presents an interesting combination of rare
live recordings (such as the world premiere performance of the 1874 4th
conducted by Kurt Woss) and acclaimed studio recordings (such as Tintner's
magnificent recording of the 1873 3rd). We also honor the memory of the
late Giuseppe Sinopoli by playing his recording of the mighty Fifth
symphony with the Staatskapelle Dresden (still not released in the United
States). As before, attendees can pick up a pamphlet with our notes about
this year's selections.
