Opera - At 02:00 Dec. 2, Concertzender has M. Subotnik's "Jacob's Dream"
and, at 08:00, a repeat of last Saturday's two works by Arthur Honegger,
"Antigone" and "Jeanne d'Arc au Bucher". In the 13:30 Opera slot also on
Dec. 2, CBC Radio 3 has Wagner's "The Flying Dutchman", La Chaine has Louis
Applebaum's "Erewhon" and BBC Radio 3 has Michael Berkeley's chamber opera
"Jane Eyre". At 13:00 on Sunday, Concertzender has Louis Saguer's "Mariana
Pineda" (1965) which has a libretto by Garcia Lorca. On Monday, Dec. 4 at
17:30 Antena2 has Maurice Ravel's "L'Enfant et les Sortileges". On
Wednesday, Dec 6 BBC Radio 3 at 14:55 starts Berlioz' huge work "The
Trojans" with the final act the next day starting at 13:55.
American Symphonies - BBC Radio 3 has a week-long celebration starting with
Sunday's 16:20 hearing of the Orpheus Chamber Symphony and Charles Ive's
Symphony #3 (The Camp Meeting); thenceforth (starting times, unfortunately,
all at 05:05) Monday has Samuel Barber's Symphony #1; Tuesday has Piston's
Symphony #3; Wednesday has Bernstein's Symphony #1 (Jeremiah); Thursday has
Schuman's Symphony #3,; Friday has Harris' Sysmphony #3
BBC Radio 3 at (again, unfortunately) 04:00 Monday to Friday has Brahms as
their "Composer of the Week".
