I was at the Virginia State Library today and got out the PHD by Zaborney -Slaves for Rent: Slave Hiring in Virginia.  While it might be valuable for someone doing research on gender or agricultural slavery, it contained very little on "industrial" slaves.  And on the iron industry I did not see anything that has not been covered more completely by Charles Dew and Ronald Lewis.
