LvB with his poor hearing couldn't give us his accurate true feelings
anyway. No question about it, Norrington's set is a true bargain. Great
sound, refreshingly different sonorities and interpretations coming from
an outstandingly gifted and informed interpreter. There is no reason why
these performances shouldn't sit side by side with the standard commonly
accepted interpretations using modern instruments, as long as you have the
shelf space! And YES, all the Norrington's are in my collection as well.
(No matter what anyone says or espouses, Norrington knows a hell of a lot
more than *any* of his critics. Only you can be the true judge of whether
on not *YOU* enjoy these recordings.)
