For all those following the thread on international archaeology / Australian
historical archaeology, I suggest you consult the latest issue of The
Journal
of Historical Archaeology (Vol. 35, No. 4) for Alaric Faulkner's review of
five French-language publications from Quebec City (p. 118-125). Apart from
type-setting problems with diacritical marks, the review itself is very
positive! Faulkner correctly points out the problem of access to
publications
in languages other than English, the problem being one of effort invested by
the general readership! As Faulkner says on pae 118, "The benign neglect
that
most American archaeologists have paid their French-speaking colleagues
should
not be excused."!
