>there a difference between cane sugar and the sucrose ( glucose & =
>fructose) found in honey?

When I took high school chemistry, we were told that sucrose is a more
complex molecule than either glucose, dextrose, or fructrose, which are
simple sugars. The body converts sucrose to glucose as part of digestion.
If you eat glucose, the body doesn't have to convert it, but will use it.
In biology, we were told that these simple sugars are all pretty much the same,
the difference in how the individual atoms are arranged in the molecule.
Based on what I was taught, I believe your doctor is correct.
