Joseph Everett:
>I have recently been introduced to Manuel de Falla's 'The Three-Cornered
>Hat' and I immediately fell in love with it. In particular I enjoy the
>playful and exuberant melodies of the dances. Of particular concern is
>that I cannot find many de Falla recordings, well, any that require merit.
>Is there an excellent recording of this wonderful treasure?
Rafael Fruhbeck de Burgos and the Philharmonia with some extra
participation by Victoria de los Angeles and a very exuberant castanet
player. I read of its re-release on CD fairly recently, but don't recall
the reference. My LP is on HMV, so the CD is probably EMI. If you can
find it, it's a terrific version for both performance and recording.
Beware of suites - the ballet runs under 40 minutes, so you might as
well have the whole thing.
