I love "Mikrokosmos" for the piano. Four reasons:

a) all the pieces are beautiful musics.

b) it`s a excellent method for the study of the piano.

c) a good method for the composers (with the Palestrina`s
counterpoint/polyphony and Inventions and The Well Tempered Clavier of
J.S..  Bach).

d) a summarized history of the music:  since parallel organum until 20th
century chromaticism.
