I am working my way through an LC program; I am hoping
to wind up both clinical and written assignments by
the end of this month---whee ha!!
In the program lectures, we students were given a list
of contraindications to breastfeeding. They are:
1) galactosemia in the infant
2) active drug abuse in mother
3) HIV-positive status in mother (in areas
where the risks of transmission outweigh the
risks of ABM/benefits of breastfeeding)
4) mother undergoing chemotherapy
Methotrexate is currently used as a treatment for
cancer, therefore is a chemotheraputic drug. It is my
understanding that methotrexate and bfing are
incompatible.
If anyone has other info bfing and chemotherapy, I
would be interested in reading it.
