REQUIRED ENTRY LEVEL KNOWLEDGE, SKILLS & ABILITIES:
A master's degree in Archaeology, Anthropology or related field. Two years
of professional experience in cultural resource management/historic
preservation law application. Two years of supervisory experience. Four
years of professional experience in Archaeology. Ability to prepare
professionally accepted archaeological research reports. Experience
speaking in public. Ability to use Microsoft Office Professional applications.
DESCRIPTION OF DUTIES:
Manages & coordinates all administrative, programmatic, & operational
activities of the Bureau. Assists with coordination of the Division's
technical assistance activities as well as responses to general & specific
public inquires regarding the survey, excavation, & interpretation of the
archaeological sites on state-owned lands. Administers & coordinates the
development & implementation of interagency agreements regarding the survey,
excavation & interpretation of the archaeological sites on state-owned
lands. Coordinates the archaeological research & underwater salvage &
exploration permit programs in accordance with rules of the Department of
State. Coordinates the designation of state archaeological landmarks.
Supervises & coordinates staff activities, archaeological projects, Bureau's
publication program, the preparation of nominations to the National Register
of Historic Places, & the Conservation & Recreation Lands survey program.
Writes scientific reports & papers on archaeological research. Represents
the Bureau at meetings & workshops, gives public presentations on Bureau
programs & on Florida Archaeology. Prepares draft rules & legislation as
assigned; prepares contracts; &, prepares & maintains data bases & programs.

archaeological sites.
>Conducts background research on environmental and land use history and
previous research conducted on the geographic location and time period.
>Studies relationships between language and culture and social linguistic
studies, relationship between individual personality and culture, or complex
industrialized societies.
>Formulates general laws of cultural development, general rules of social
and cultural behavior, or general value orientations.
>Applies anthropological data and techniques to solution of problems in
human relations.

>Studies artifacts, architectural features, and types of structures
recovered by excavation in order to determine age and cultural identity.
