The Maryland Archaeological Conservation Laboratory seeks qualified applicants for the position of Project Curator, Assistant Project Curator, and Collections Technician to process selected historic period collections curated at the facility.
The Project Curator will conduct and supervise the processing and reporting of selected collections. Responsibilities include washing, labeling, floating, sorting, packaging, cataloging, photographing, data entry, artifact analysis, and preparation of detailed reports (including the processing of soil samples). Knowledge of historic Mid-Atlantic archaeology and artifacts and electronic archaeological databases a must. MA in anthropology, history, American Studies, or related field required, or applicant may substitute BA and four years combined field and laboratory experience. The position lasts approximately 12 months. Full-time contractual position, no benefits, $19.47/hour.
The Assistant Project Curator will conduct and assist with supervising the processing and reporting of selected collections. Responsibilities include washing, labeling, floating, sorting, packaging, cataloging, photographing, data entry, artifact analysis, and preparation of detailed reports (including the processing of soil samples). Knowledge of historic Mid-Atlantic archaeology and artifacts and electronic archaeological databases a must. MA in anthropology, history, American Studies, or related field required, or applicant may substitute BA and two years combined field and laboratory experience. Position lasts approximately 12 months. Full-time contractual position, no benefits, $17.57/hour.
Collections Technician responsibilities include washing, labeling, floating, sorting, counting, packaging, cataloging, photographing, data entry, and artifact analysis (including the processing of soil samples). Knowledge of historic and prehistoric Mid-Atlantic artifacts a must. BA in anthropology, history, American Studies, or related field required, or applicant may substitute AA and three years combined field and laboratory experience. Position lasts approximately 6 months. Full-time contractual position, no benefits, $12.93/hour.
