Hi all,
Following on Greig Parker's posting http://physics.nist.gov/cuu/Units/prefixes.html that listed
the .. 20 SI prefixes used to form decimal multiples and submultiples of SI units;
Examples: {10^24, "Y" i.e., yotta} .. {10^9, "G," i.e., giga} for instance.
The "intuitive" English system would write these: E24, E-9 .. E meaning 10^24, 10^9
My point being that every time we substitute some hoky name like, "Hertz," or "Pascal," for
instance, in place of cycles per second (i.e., cps, which is the equation}, and psi, or "yotta"
for 10^24, we're destroying our ability to understand our own system, & we're destroying our
heritage .. that was formed of simple intuitive concepts .. Politically correct?
Balderdash! .. closer to insanity! Yes! It's is a dead horse .. but hopefully will caution us
in the future.
