RESEARCH ARCHAEOLOGIST
Southwest Missouri State University is accepting applications for a Research
Archaeologist in the Center for Archaeological Research. Responsibilities
include: acting as principal investigator; directing archival, field and
laboratory analyses; preparing technical reports, proposals and budgets; and
assisting other principal investigators on large projects; and possibly some
teaching.
Masteršs degree in Anthropology, Archaeology, or a related discipline is
required. A Doctorate degree is preferred. Three years experience in
Research Archaeology is required. It is preferred that at least two of the
three years of experience be in Cultural Resource Management (CRM). Research
specialization in historical archaeology is preferred. Additional
requirements: field experience and interest in the archaeology of the
Midwest, Southeast, or an adjoining region; experience as a principal
investigator, supervisor, and/or director on a variety of projects ranging
from surveys to full-scale excavations; computer literacy; demonstrated
technical report preparation skills; ability to work independently and make
appropriate and fiscally responsible decisions to meet deadlines; and
possess problem solving skills. Salary range: $30,000 to $35,000 annually.

PROJECT SUPERVISOR
Southwest Missouri State University is accepting applications for a Project
Supervisor to act as principal investigator directing small to medium
archaeological survey and testing projects, preparing draft budgets and
technical proposals, supervising artifact analyses and writing technical
reports, and assisting other principal investigators on large projects.
A Bachelors degree in Anthropology, or a related field is required. A
Masteršs degree is preferred. At least one year of experience in contract
archaeology working with a university/college, private firm, and/or
government agency is required. Experience in preparing archaeological
reports is required. Strong oral and written communication skills are
required along with excellent interpersonal skills, supervisory experience,
functional knowledge of personal computers and proven report preparation
skills. Research specialization is required. Salary range $23,400-28,080.
