From the article it seems that there's a rift between those who want
their classical radio tried and true and those who view it as a force for
exploring. Unfortunately, there is just no way to divvy that audience
up so that they could get their wish of multiple classical formats. The
"sound" i.e. baroque, classical approach seems to be the most logical.
And I think if you're an explorer you really have to go it alone. You
can't depend on "radio" to do that for you. That way lies disappointment.

I try to do my part in exploring especially when I have people over.
Naturally, music is in the background and I play a real mixed bag. You'd
think perhaps people don't listen but I get a kick out of hearing someone
comment after they leave say "Hey what was that piece you had on?" Trying
to elicit more detail, it's usually that they have a vague recollection
of the melody or sound. But in a way you plant the seed so that they can
follow up on that piece that they "listened" to or whatever association it
managed to pop up for them. A great comment is, Rich where the hell did
you pick that one up?!! Well, I know in that case that someone was
listening.
