The Ormandy recording is well worth having. Of the two recordings by
Bernstein that I know of, I have the later NYPO recording from CBS which
I believe was recorded live in Japan. It is vintage Bernstein, lush,
indulgent...but it works. I listen to this recording when I really want
to wallow in the piece. Between these two recordings, I feel that I need
no other recordings of this Symphony.
