Prefabricated buildings have a long history. Probably the first English
building built in North America was a prefabricated building designed to
hold 100 men overwintering in Hudson's Bay as part of Martin Frobisher's
expedition of 1578. That was the largest arctic expedition ever mounted,
with 400 men in 15 ships. The site has been located and excavated.
