Dear Dr. Cohen-Williams and List:
The message I received from the HISTARCH listserv from Wm. Liebeknecht this
evening had a virus attached to it in the form of a file
("unknown15dc.data") which triggered my virus-checker (it checks incoming
email). My virus-checker says the file contained the virus (worm?)
"wscript.kakworm.dr", which has a number of nasty characteristics. Due to
my modem's quirks, I got the message twice, both times with the virus.
I don't know whether Mr. Liebeknecht's computer was the source or whether
the server was the source, and I don't know whether others received the
same message and attachment. But if you haven't updated your virus-checker
or done a scan recently, I strongly recommend both.
