I worked (as a technician) a number of years ago at a site in South Hill, Virginia, on an historic Anglo cemetery that was supposed to be moved years earlier but wasn't ( a not too uncommon practice). Our job was to document the graves and remove the bones (what happened to them I do not know) to make way for construction of an office building or some sort of industrial complex.

If Mark Walker sees this post, I am sure he can provide more details.
