It is easier to get forgiveness than permission.

Colleagues,

I'm working on a paper for the 2002 SHA meeting in Mobile, entitled "The
Writing on the Wall: An examination of paper reuse in the mountains of
Western North Carolina." Dave Dyson and I were involved in the removal and
reconstruction of a mounatin cabin that had walls of 2 rooms covered
w/newspaper and magazine pages used for insulation, decoration and
separation of living areas. Our problem is we haven't been able to find
much written on the subject. I've seen old homes w/this type of covering
since I first read the WWII newspaper articles in our tenant house.

The Hollybush report published by UT is the only report we have available
so far. We would appreciate any comparative info of which you may be
aware. I'm sure there is more out there if we only knew where to look.
Any sources and leads will be greatly appreciated. Thank you from Smokey,
Dave and me!
