Cathy and others, You may be interested to know that most of our ballads use
old music dating back five or more centuries in Europe and the British Isles.
I took a fascinating course in Folklore back in the Dark Ages and learned,
for example, the music to the tune "...when I walked down the streets of
Laredo..." came from France to the Ozarks before it made it to the Old West.
We bring comforting tunes from our roots and remake them to meet new ideals
where we move. Thus, tunes evolve over time.
